Creating Lasting Change to Improve Our Community
-
The 29th Legislative District, like other communities in our state, is facing a housing shortage. Costs to buy and rent are too high for our families to bear, and every year it becomes harder for people living on fixed incomes to stay in their homes. Patrick knows that we need leadership that is willing to confront the housing crisis with thoughtfulness, innovation, and determination, and will work to find real housing solutions in the Legislature.
-
People across our district are struggling to make ends meet, with rising prices for groceries, childcare, utilities, and more. Patrick will work to elevate and build coalitions to support families, small businesses, and working-class people.
-
We all deserve to feel safe, stable, and represented at work. Patrick supports increasing opportunities for unionization, fair wages, and protecting the mental, emotional, and physical well-being of all workers through law and policy.
-
Most communities in the 29th are overburdened, facing multiple environmental harms and health impacts. Our district deserves clean air and clean water, and places to play and recreate. Patrick knows that we must combat any rollbacks to protecting our climate, support a just transition to a clean energy future, and prevent consequences such as wildfire damage and water shortages.

Many Washingtonians rely on Apple Health/Medicaid for their healthcare, and the State must strengthen and protect these programs from attacks by the federal government. We must also work toward real universal healthcare and an affordable system that covers our care needs. Data privacy is becoming an increasingly important issue as people seek health care, and Patrick will continue to work to protect the privacy of Apple Health users so that Washingtonians feel safe sharing necessary information to receive health care services.
-
We must ensure that our communities have the resources they need to provide support and protections for immigrants, refugees, and communities of color. We also must support our right to free speech and the freedom to protest. Our state needs to bolster existing protections to better serve Washingtonians, and explore every option for adding new ones. Patrick will use his legal and policy experience to delve into these complex issues of state and federal authority to center Washingtonians’ needs.
-
Patrick has worked in his legal career to protect the hard-earned retirement savings of Washington families. He knows how Washingtonians are inundated with attempts to take advantage of our seniors and others for financial gain. Patrick will work to improve protections for Washingtonians so that we can better safeguard our financial security.

We won’t be able to get a handle on public safety issues if we only address the symptoms. True public safety requires addressing the root causes of crime, such as mental health, substance use, and generational trauma, through early intervention and treatment. To effectively protect our communities, we must invest in co-response models, prioritize restorative justice for our youth, and ensure our prisons and jails can do more to change behavior rather than cycle people in and out of the system.
Additionally, our cities and counties are struggling to fund new caseload standards, and we need to make sure the resources are there to be able to maintain a functioning court system. I will support policy and funding solutions to ensure we create safer communities for everyone.
